RideTech’s Brett Voelkel is 2012 GoodGuys AutoCross Champion

The autocross is a popular attraction at many Goodguys events. This gives owners of their cars not only the ability to test their own skills, but to also show off what their build can do. Proving your car (or truck) can drive as good as it looks is a great way to dispel the myth of street rods or custom cars being all show and no go.

The Pro class at these events is a stacked affair. Open to Goodguys sponsors, the class features rides that are “house” cars or owned by a full-time employee of the company. They must also be driven by a full-time employee. This same driver must participate in each event to gain points, driver changes are not allowed, although different cars can be driven.

RideTech is dedicated to improving the ride and handling of their customers’ cars and it only seems fitting that you’d find company founder Brett Voelkel behind the wheel of the RideTech ’33 Hot Rod at many of these events competing in true RideTech form.

We have featured Voelkel’s ’33 and his exploits numerous times in the past because it really is such a cool build. We’ll spare you all the fine details again, but suffice to say that this car showcases the best of both RideTech suspension and several other company’s parts all tuned as one fine performance machine. It’s a great demonstration of the potential of the Factory Five Racing ’33 Hot Rod kit as well.

Voelkel who is an avid autocross enthusiast, piloted the ’33 and a few other cars this season, working his way up to a Goodguys autocross Pro class title. He also captured the Street Rod class title as well. This was the first time that anyone had won two titles in the same year.
Voelkel and the RideTech crew are not resting on their successes this year either. The car will get a new paint job and some detail clean up over the winter and then they are possible planning to change it over to an air suspension system, to test the differences. We’ll keep you posted on the updates, check back right here!
