When you think of classic 1950s cars, chances are your mind immediately goes to the iconic Chevy Tri-Fives. But right now, RK Motors Charlotte has another classic 50s car up for your consideration, and it might just strike you as a bit more unique than an old Bel Air or 210.
Offering some of the country’s finest classic automobiles for sale, RK Motors has a knack for bringing forth some rare, unique and amazing cars–ones that sometimes no one has really seen in ages. This latest offering from RK Motors is exactly that, reigning in the HEMI Fireflite Sportsman model of the 1957 DeSoto product line.
Fitted with a correct 4-barrel 341ci HEMI engine, this gorgeously restored Fireflite features everything you could ever want from a 1950s Mopar.
Backed by concours workmanship, the HEMI engine purrs to the tune of 295hp under the classically large air cleaner and unique valve covers. A correct generator makes sure this engine maintains plenty of firing power while everything from the hose clamps to the decals have all been fitted to the car in accordance to factory standards. Even the original quality control stamps have been duplicated for this car’s finite finish.
Backing the engine is a 3-speed TorqueFlite transmission tied to a 3.36-geared rearend. Restored leaf springs and new shocks give the rearend the perfect combination of factory-correct and fully functional, while the Satin Black frame plays well into 1950s DeSoto standards. A new gas tank and 15-inch chrome wire wheels wrapped in whitewall tires complete the Fireflite’s performance features.
Just by looking at this car, you can tell the quality of workmanship that went into restoring it. In addition to the respectable amount of new chrome congruent with most 50s cars, this DeSoto features a factory-like dual exhaust system and its factory-correct Fiesta Red paint scheme with a Grey hardtop.
The interior follows suit with brand new two-tone Fiesta Red and grey upholstery, grey carpeting, and a new headliner.
The classic dashboard is complimented with the car’s original AM radio as well as the famous Chrysler push-button controls alongside the steering wheel. Hidden in the glove box is a new JVC stereo system with new speakers throughout the DeSoto’s cabin, giving the appearance of an old setup with modern sound quality and features.
