Partnering with some of the best companies in the rodding and performance world is what makes it possible for us to bring you so many great stories each week, month, and year. Once again, Rod Authority has expanded our list of great partnerships, which will now include Chevrolet Performance.

Superchargers as well as engine and transmission control systems are just a few of the parts available from Chevrolet Performance.
Needing little introduction, the long performance arm of General Motors, Chevrolet Performance offers everything from bolt-on performance and restoration parts, to engine upgrades, complete crate engines, and transmissions, and even complete turnkey race cars. Most recently of note has been the attention for their COPO Camaro program which has seen huge success!
Whether you’re in need of parts for your late model muscle car, or you’re starting a brand new build, Chevrolet performance has you covered. Engines range from those that were original equipment on many late model cars, to the more exotic line of high output crate engines and the same holds true for transmissions. Chevrolet Performance also offers controllers for engines and transmissions, and complete packages with everything you need to put a modern drivetrain in your next build. Sweetening the deal even more is the fact that most complete crate engines carry a 2 year 50,000 mile warranty.
Started by Ernie Callard in the 1960s to help Trans Am teams with parts and performance, the division grew under his supervision. Callard developed the parts numbering system and quite possibly coined the “crate engine” term, so commonly used throughout the industry today.
It wasn’t until 1989 that there was an actual GM Performance Parts catalog though, and once it hit dealer shelves the company saw business boom. During the span between 1993 and 2001 business increased by more than triple.
In 2011 GM Performance Parts was regrouped and reorganized under the Chevrolet Performance banner which is how you’ll find it today. Don’t let the new name fool you; they still offer, build, and develop parts for a wide array of General Motors products, all available from their nationwide network of authorized dealers.
With a complete product line of powertrain products, Chevrolet Performance has what you need for your next build and then some.
We look forward to a long a fruitful relationship with Chevrolet Performance, and to the many advancements they will make in the years to come. We can’t wait to see what they’ll do with the upcoming new LT1 set to make it’s debut in the very near future. With such a storied history of success, the future of this performance parts provider looks very bright indeed. Chevrolet Performance, welcome to the Rod Authority and Power Automedia Family.
