Auto legend Steve Saleen is mostly known for adding his special touch to traditional muscle cars such as Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers. This past April, the company announced that they plan on taking on a whole new challenge, the Telsa Model S. That’s right, Saleen is going EV, and their special Saleen Tesla made a huge splash in Pebble Beach this past weekend.
Dubbed the FOURSIXTEEN, this luxury sports car is based off of the most powerful Tesla out there, the Model S P85. Although no performance specs have been released, it does have a 11:39.1 final gear ratio complete with a Saleen-only locking differential making it a bit quicker off the line. The Model S 985 alone features a 416hp electric motor capable of 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and a speed that tops off at 130 miles per hour.

Saleen upgraded the performance with an adjustable suspension system to accommodate different driving styles whether that may be on the road or at the track. And interior upgrades consist of sportier bolstered seats and other modifications in the cabin. Saleen mentioned that the EV will also come fitted with carbon ceramic brakes for stopping power.
With all of that combined, the Foursixteen starts at a hefty $152,000. That’s just the starting price. However, does eligibility for tax credits justify the asking price of a high-performance Saleen Tesla? How about bypassing the gas pump?
For those who own already own an existing Tesla Model S, upgrades will soon be available through the Saleen performance parts division. Do these upgrades make the Tesla more appealing, or are you still wanting the rumble of the engine to join you during your drive?
