When your wheels are typically seen on some of the hottest and most expensive cars on the road, the only way to break that mold is to roll out a classic musclecar with a set of your wheels. HRE Performance Wheels are usually seen on Vipers, Ferraris, BMWs, Porsches, and plenty of other exotics or European cars. But don’t let that high society style fool you, because HRE brought along a classic Camaro fitted with a set of their C100 forged Competition Series wheels.
But they didn’t just bring any 1972 Camaro, they brought the Pure Vision Camaro powered by a 1,200 horsepower twin-turbo Nelson Racing Engine. So why put the twin-turbo Camaro on a set of wheels usually seen on an exotic? Because you can, and HRE President, Alan Peltier knew he could pull it off. Peltier knew the car was going to be extreme, and he knew that HRE had to be a part of the build.
But as far removed from exotics as the Bowtie musclecar is, there’s still a little hint of exotic in the build itself. The “Aston Martin Tungsten” paint scheme hints of exotics, as do the Aston Martin DBS door handles. The carbon fiber front and rear bumpers only complement the paint, and the 427ci Nelson Racing engine, featuring their “Mirror Image” turbos, puts out more than exotic horsepower and pumps it through a T-56 six-speed transmission, customized by Modern Driveline.
The go was enough, so the whoa had to be done with a set of Baer 6S brakes with 13-inch rotors. The sticky side of the wheels are shod with Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires, wrapped around the C100 wheels with the satin bronze center finish. If that’s not enough to change your mind about where HRE Performance wheels look right at home, then all hope is lost. Check out the HRE web site to see their complete line of custom wheels and options – even if you have some old musclecar just waiting for some new legs.
