You know the name, you know the reputation, you know what to expect – it’s Detroit Speed, Inc. The folks there are at it again and they’ve brought something truly exciting to the 2019 SEMA Show. We stopped by the Detroit Speed booth on Hot Rod Alley and spoke to Dan Oddy. The newest product Detroit Speed has added to its lineup is a QUADRAlink system for ’73-’87 C-10 Squarebody pickups.
We all know Squarebodies are extremely hot right now, and there are several manufacturers attempting to enter the market. We asked Dan what makes the QUADRAlink different. Dan told us, “What we really wanted to do was to develop something simple. So, we’ve got a full bolt-on kit that uses your stock axle and you don’t have to move any brake lines. It’s something nice and simple – any guy can do it in his garage and have a nice little street truck.”
We asked Dan about the installation of the kit, and how difficult it is. He explained, “You are going to have to remove the original leaf spring brackets, but those can easily be drilled out. We’ve also included a C-notch bracket in case guys really want to slam their truck. The way we designed it, you almost don’t even need that notch, but some guys might want to do something different so we wanted to give them that option.”
We asked Dan if customers can expect any design elements to carry over from previous iterations of the QUADRAlink. He told us the C-10 system does utilize the swivel-link design on the upper, lower, and lateral links, as well as the track bar.
One fantastic feature of the kit which caught our eye was the adjustable upper shock mounts. The mounts have different locations to bolt your coilovers to, offering one-inch of ride-height adjustability without sacrificing suspension travel. Along with all the other features the QUADRAlink carries with it is the ability to either bolt it on or weld it on. Detroit Speed, Inc. offers it in either configuration for any end-user.
So, if you’re looking for improved ride quality and stance for daily driving and light-duty hauling, check out Detroit Speed’s new QUADRAlink for ’74-’87 C-10 pickups. Keep an eye out for its slated release in late-November/early-December. You can find out more about this kit and everything else Detroit Speed has to offer on its website, here.
