When restoring an old car, most people seek out places with a great reputation on working with their specific make. Each restoration place usually has its own specialty. Welcome to the land of old Chryslers located in this Denver storage yard with not much space and dozens of classics awaiting to be restored to former glory or to be parted out into nothing.
Thanks to Autoweek and a team captain of the Grumpy Cat Racing ’50 Dodge 24 Hours of LeMons team, who happens to work at the place part time, we got a glimpse inside this one-man vintage Chrysler storage yard filled with dozens of Chrysler A-bodies and some B-bodies, some worth restoring and some worthy parts donors.
The team captain logged onto a LeMons forum to see what he should use as his next track monster – a decent BMW E30 or an old-school 1950 Dodge pickup truck that has been sitting for decades at the storage yard. He decided to go with the old fixer-upper pickup sporting a Chrysler flathead six after some convincing from fellow LeMons forum members. The decision proved wise after the truck brought him to victory.
Among the collection of classic cars is an Australian right-hand-drive Chrysler Valiant Ute that is a good candidate for restoration with US Valiant sheet metal which seems to be available right in this yard. Good thing for these cars, the Colorado climate is low in humidity and keeps rust from spreading like wildfire.
