In another era, the Dodge Dart and Plymouth Valiant were America’s most durable car, especially with the “Leaning Tower of Power” Slant Six motor. If you’re a Mopar guy, you also know that versions built with the 340 can be giant-killers.
So did the rest of the world experience some of this Mopar A-body magic? According to this Dodge 3700 GT for sale in Spain, indeed!
The 3700 GT was based on the American Dodge Dart and only came as a four-door. Information is hard to come by, but I believe they were built from 1971 through 1977. Model name came from the 225 cid Slant Six rounded up to the next cubic centimeter. They resemble the Dodge Polara and Coronado that were built in Argentina, but headlights, parking lights, and taillights were different.
The world outside North America depends on small cars for transportation, so it could be inferred that the 3700 GT was somewhat of a prestigious car in its time due to its size and six-cylinder motor. This black example is claimed to relatively original with just a repaint, air conditioning, power steering, and Spanish technical vehicle inspection (ITV). If you glance at the console, you’ll notice a four-speed manual transmission – a rarity in a four-door in America, but commonplace in Europe.
In the chance that this Dodge looks familiar to you, it may be due to the movie Batman from 1989. And for not much Bat-dollars, you can own a car that won’t be seen on every Bat-corner in America.
