1200-122This smooth looking 1955 Chevrolet belongs to Dave and Linda Dally of Shelton, Washington, and it is one smooth looking car. With its rich purple exterior, contrasted polish trim, and a retro-’50s style custom black interior, it is a highly stylized car done really well.

Beyond just looking good, it is also a performer. It features a 409 cubic-inch big-block engine that has been bored and stroked out to 472 cubic-inches — it is capable of somewhere around 475 horsepower.

“The whole top end of this engine is Edelbrock,” Dave said. “Heads, intake, and carbs.” The carburetors are a matched set of Edelbrock 550 CFM carburetors. All of that power is harnessed by a five-speed manual transmission and 3.73:1 ratio positraction rearend gearing. The suspension system features Bilstein coil-over front shocks, rack and pinion power steering, a sway bar, HydraTech hydroboost braking, and mostly stock rear suspension.

The interior is an impressive black that has a ‘50s hot-rod vibe, but adding a touch of comfort to this purple beauty is a Vintage Air A/C. While the original 1955 steering wheel and unaltered dash are a gentle homage to its originality, the black and silver tones, floor shifter, and additional performance gauges remind us that this car has been brought into the age of musclecars.

There is no doubt this is one serious piece of street muscle. The look is so well done and the drivetrain so well built, it’s a contender for the best custom ’55 Chevy we’ve ever seen. What say you?
