When the crew on History Channel’s Counting Cars needed a crate engine that would get three of their awesome builds up and running, they turned to Summit Racing and BluePrint Engines to get the job done. Whether it was a burly F-100, an iconic IROC-Z, or a musclebound Nova, BluePrint was more than pleased to be the engine supplier of choice for Danny Koker and his Count’s Kustom Shop in Las Vegas.
Now, Summit and BluePrint will be offering your pick of these three engines–a Ford 347 Stroker, Chevy 383 Stroker Vortec, and 383 Stroker Fuel-Injected–to help you put power to the pavement in a variety of configurations to meet your needs. Let’s check out the details on this trio of mean motors:
First up, there’s the Ford 347 Stroker. This one was used early on in Season One, when Danny and his cohorts took a pile of F-100 body panels and crafted an amazing truck. Able to put out 330hp, this motor features upgraded OE iron cylinder heads and a dual-plane intake manifold, atop of which sits a 600 cfm four-barrel carb to give you a consistently powerful air/fuel mixture.
Next up, we have the 383 Stroker Vortec. This motor went into an IROC-Z in Season One, giving the car a clearly better performance range than the pukey 305 it had in it before. At 405hp and 440 lb.-ft. of torque, the 383 was equipped with an HEI distributor, Vortec iron cylinder heads, a four-bolt main block, and a sweet 750cfm carb.
Finally, there’s the 383 Stroker Fuel Injected. This baby was used in Season Two of Counting Cars to create a beautifully-crafted ’71 Nova (pictured above), done up as a tribute to Don Yenko, the tuner’s tuner of Chevrolet and creator of the Yenko Deuce Nova. It’s the most powerful of the three, cranking out 430hp and 450 lb.-ft. of torque with aluminum cylinder heads, a hydraulic roller camshaft, and a FAST EZ-EFI fuel injection system.
Any of these motors will make a clean, welcome, and superb choice for your project car or truck. And BluePrint Engines will have your back with their 30-month/50,000-mile warranty available on these powerplants.
Yet if you’re looking to take things a little further, Summit Racing is proud to offer Counting Cars Combos. These kits bundle together the same parts used by the guys to restore and refine the vehicles that enter their Sin City garage.
