What’s the best part about having a beautiful rod to call your very own? Being able to show it off, of course. Nothing beats dropping jaws and turning heads with your ride, and Jegs Performance gives you that opportunity. Jegs holds a contest allowing gear heads to send in pictures of their own custom muscle, in the hopes of getting voted by other fans into the number 1 spot- landing their car on the front of Jegs’ catalog.
Naturally, Jegs receives a lot of submissions for a lot of cool cars. Fans nationwide vote on the coolest rides, and this month, sitting at the number 7 spot, was something special: an immaculate ’41 Willys Coupe.
Owned, built, and loved by the very lucky Richard Losco, this awesome rod boasts a 540ci, 16-plug Hemi power plant, putting out savage amounts of horsepower all the while being tame enough for a cruise down your neighborhood roads. Natural aspiration wasn’t Richard’s cup of tea, apparently, because this massive motor was also fitted with an 8-71 supercharger – just for that little extra oomph.
Along with the blower, this Willys Coupe is fitted with a number of other high performance upgrades. Some of these include twin Dominator carburetors, the well renowned Chrysler Torqflite automatic transmission, 2 1/2-inch Zoomies headers, and a Ford 9-inch rear axle. All these things put Richard’s ride up in the 900-horse range.
One of the key factors Jegs takes into consideration when selecting a winner for the contest – aside from votes – is its usage of aftermarket upgrades. Primarily, Jegs is interested in builds that utilize the sort of parts that a customer could find on the Jegs website. Obviously, Richard’s Willys Coupe is just that – a high-powered, high-performance modern machine, hidden under the body of a timeless classic. Though not a contest winner, this rod really is a spectacular set of wheels.
