The last model year that the 426 Hemi engine was offered as an option in the Plymouth Barracuda was 1971. Only 59 Hemi-powered examples of the car are known to have been built for the model year, which makes this gorgeous example, offered at Barrett-Jackson’s 2018 Scottsdale Auction, January 13-21, a rare specimen.

What further increases the rarity of this particular Barracuda is the claim that this particular car is the last Hemi-powered Barracuda to ever roll off the assembly line.

With only 23,772 original miles, the Mopar has recently undergone a full rotisserie restoration. All of the body panels are original, as is the shaker hood, and have been refinished in correct color-code B5 True Blue Metallic paint.

Inside, the car features the original black leather interior in pristine condition along with the Rallye Dash.

Under the Shaker hood is the original 426 cubic-inch Hemi engine, rated with 425 horsepower from the factory.

Additionally, the car came equipped with the A34 Super Track Pack package, it is backed by the original heavy-duty four-speed manual transmission connected to a Hurst shifter. Also part of the Super Track Pak is the original Dana 60 rear end with 4.10 gears and a Sure-Grip differential, along with power disc brakes at all four corners.

According to the original Broadcast sheet included with the car, the car is listed as “Special Handling” meaning it was special ordered in exactly this configuration.

The car has been visually inspected, decoded, and verified by Dave Wise and includes a Wise Vehicle Validation report with the sale of the car.

Scheduled to hit the auction block at the Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 13-21, 2018, we are very interested to see what this gorgeous car with an interesting provenance ends up going for.
