Waking up to find your car on blocks is a nightmare that many car owners have faced over the years. However, when thieves target a Corvette belonging to fireman at the local fire station, things hit a new low.
According to LocalMemphis.com, James Martin parked his 2008 C6 Corvette in the parking lot of Fire Station 29 in Memphis, Tennessee, but when his shift was over there was no way for him to drive home. Martin stated that he last saw his C6 at 3:30 a.m., but when his shift was over at 7 a.m. his car had fallen prey to thieves.
During that small window of time, a thief or thieves placed Martin’s car on blocks and took off with his wheels and tires. Unfortunately, the fire station does not have surveillance cameras in the parking lot, so it will be more difficult to catch the culprits.
According to LocalMemphis.com, the wheels and tires were valued in excess of $3,000. Although Martin most likely has enough insurance to cover the theft, it does not make it any better. Emergency personnel, especially, should not be subjected to this kind of activity in the community where they work.
These are the people who face danger day in and day out to protect the residents and businesses in the community. It shows a high level of disrespect for the community as well as those who serve the people, when their property is targeted by thieves. According to the article, there are no suspects at the moment, but anyone who might have information is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
