Currently up for grabs on eBay at this very moment is an incredible collection of historic items from the estate of Joe Oros. Oros was the Chief of Design at Ford Motor Company during the 1960s and is the man who penned the original design of the 1964-1/2 Mustang.
According to the seller, the auction includes “Hundreds of items, ranging from books (all Ford related), many of them dedicated by their respective authors to Mr Oros, [to] Mr Oros’ personal die-car collection (30+ cars), including the red 1964-1/2 Mustang, awards, medals, his personal yachting Gallet Regatta watch.”
If you’ve ever wanted to actually pretend that you are, in fact, the father of the Mustang, the auction also includes “Oros’ Florence Knoll coffee table, night stands, his mid-century swiveling desk lamp, a brass tall floor lamp, his tennis raquet, paddling orr, gold clubs and shoes, correspondence with his mentor and teacher Victor Schreckengost (an American industrial design icon), art work and greeting cards signed by Mr Schreckengost.” We promise not to judge.
All joking aside, this is an unprecedented assortment of collector’s items for a diehard Mustang fan, and we likely won’t see such a wide array of items like this for sale again anytime soon. If you’re game, our Los Angeles-based seller is offering the entire lot at a Buy-It-Now price of $99,500, though it appears he’d also accepting offers as well, so we wouldn’t take that figure as his bottom line. Either way, if you’re a Mustang fan, it might be time to break the piggy bank.
