Most muscle car owners aren’t particularly worried when they see a truck on the road, especially one of the larger variety. This four-door crew cab GMC Sierra is the second full-size truck that’s come across our plate in recent weeks that’s making us want to start building a project truck. Talk about one way to throw people off! And hey, you could give your muscle car competitors a tow home after they break the inferior axles on their car after you beat them.
This turbo GMC Sierra crew cab is a heavyweight that showed up at a recent Street Car Takeover event in Atlanta, GA. Mistaken in the video’s title as a Chevy Silverado, this Sierra runs low 12s, quite impressive considering how much it weighs.
It starts out by beating up on a WS6 Pontiac Trans Am for two passes, and moves on to the Trans Am’s cousin, the GTO. During this pass, they run out of the gate, not off the line, so we’re not sure of the actual quarter-mile time while running against the red GTO. The board reads 16-seconds, but that’s not from the tree.
During the heads-up race with the Pontiac GTO, the GMC Sierra covers the distance (again, not sure what it is) in nearly the same time, with the truck crossing just a tad later. The truck does, however, run a higher mile per hour, which usually means it has more power, or just experienced some traction issues.
We’re not sure what the modifications are on the two Pontiacs, but they likely pretty close to stock.
