As summer vacation draws to close, many of us have been forced to watch reruns and or old movies thanks to television industry’s vacation schedule. Many of the films on the basic cable channels are bad at best, but when they are car movies on basic cable bad turns to awful. Jalopnik complied a list of the top ten bad car movies as suggested by their readership.
Many of the films are truly bad, but the guys at Jalopnik seem view them as guilty pleasures. Regardless of questionable taste in cinema, it is hard to argue with any of the films on the list. According to Jalopnik the top ten bad car movies are: Driven, Redline, 200 MPH, Six Pack, Drive Angry, Corvette Summer, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Asphalt Wars, Rubber and in the number ten spot is Taxi.
It is obvious that after the box office success of the original Fast and Furious film, a horrible series of low budget street racing films would soon follow as well as sequels to the aforementioned film. Basically, Redline, 200 MPH, Asphalt Wars and 2 Fast 2 Furious should receive an “R” for rice and be banished to the nearly free DVD bin at the local electronics store.
Others such as Driven, Drive Angry and Taxi are examples of bad movies thanks to cheesy effects, low return on investment and generally being crappy. As for Six Pack and Corvette Summer, both of these movies are old and outdated. Perhaps the star of Rubber, the malevolent physic tire will be able to kill off any future low budget and or car crappy car flicks.
