Hot on the wake of possibly the first totaled Hellcat that we broke the story on, we find another Hellcat that has suffered at the hands of its owner. Only this one didn’t get crashed – it got traded in on a Chevrolet! We came across this low-mile Hellcat on a Craigslist ad in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
It appears that the owner who bought this car perhaps wanted something with a little less power, so he went to his local Chevrolet dealer with just 13 miles on the odometer and traded it in. One can only speculate the reasoning for this, as so many people have paid over sticker price on their 2015 Challenger Hellcat that we can’t imagine why they would trade it in with so few miles.
The ad shares all of the vitals that we have all come to know and love about the Hellcat. Similar to the car that we drove for a week, it’s a 6-speed manual with that incredible 707 horsepower supercharged Hemi. This one, however, seems to be a little faster according to the sales team (200 mph vs. 199 as advertised) and slightly quicker (“0-60 in less than 3 seconds” vs. “low 3-second range” as advertised). Must’ve been the break-in that increased the performance.
Still, despite the lack of experience with this Chevy dealership sales team that relates this new supercharged Hemi to the “old Hemi” (not even close) this is a car that many of us are surprised was traded in. We called Jud Kuhn Chevrolet to ask about the car, but no answers in the sales department… perhaps they’re screening calls about this beast.
The dealership is, no doubt, trying hard to sell this heavy hunk of horsepower and perhaps they overdid it a little in the sales-pitch department, but who can pass up a Redline Red Hellcat with the black Laguna leather interior and all that ridiculous power? Well, we know of at least one person who has passed on it: the prior owner.
What do you think would make someone sell a car like this with just 13 miles on it? It’s like he bought it and drove it straight to the nearest Chevy dealer! At least the 100,000 mile warranty is transferable to the new owner – hopefully he’ll keep it for a few more miles!
We can almost see the memes being generated by this one; from the Mopar crowd: “Owner can’t handle the power, trades in Hellcat for a Cobalt.” How about one from the Bowtie crowd: “Car owner wants better handling, trades Hellcat for a Z-28 straight across.” Of course, the Blue Oval crowd would have to get in on this somehow… what do you think would make a good Mustang meme for this Craigslist ad?
