He was a giant of the performance world, and now, his personal car collection is heading to auction. This August at The Quail Auction, seven vehicles from the personal garage of the man who helped define American hot rodding will be up for grabs.

The Legend of Vic Edelbrock Jr.

A person’s garage tells a story, and Vic’s is all about American horsepower and family history. The collection shows his deep love for all things fast, from historic race cars to custom-built hot rods.

Each of the seven cars being offered has a direct connection to Vic Jr., his father, or the racing heroes he admired. It’s a rare look into the personal tastes of an industry icon.

A Ghost of Trans-Am

The headliner has to be the infamous No. 13 Trans-Am Camaro from 1968. This car is a piece of racing folklore, a machine built by the legendary Smokey Yunick and later owned by Don Yenko.

Some of the biggest names in the sport, from Mark Donohue to Bruce McLaren, wheeled it in anger before Vic Jr. added it to his collection in 1993. Another piece of racing history is the ’63 Corvette Z06, which holds a special place as Vic Jr.’s very first race car.

Hot Rods and Family History

The collection also shows Vic’s deep roots in hot rodding. A pair of 1932 Ford Roadsters built by the renowned Roy Brizio are on offer, one of them a perfect tribute to the original car that his father, Vic Sr., made famous on the dry lakes.
