This modernized street rod has so much character and meticulous craftsmanship that make it hard for it go unnoticed coming down the street. A work of utter brilliance, this award winning kustom is a frame off build that deserves respect where credit is due.
Built by Kenny Davis Hot Rods, this kustom has been featured on Super Rod Magazine with its sheer beauty and originality. Peeking under the hood is a 555 cubic-inch Jim Oddy-built V8 mill that provides plenty of power for the bubbly rod. A FAST fuel injection system and an Edelbrock intake manifold, with ported aluminum heads and hand-built aluminum valve covers show this kustom is not all show with plenty of go.
The sizable engine that lurks beneath is fitted with JE Pistons, Eagle rods, and 0.720 lift Comp camshaft. An upgraded Jerry Lovell-built TH400 automatic transmission, a 3,200 rpm stall converter, and a Ford 9-inch rearend help put the power to the pavement.
The House Of Kolor Sunset Pearl and Cinnamon Pearl paint helps bring out every swooping angle this Willys has, keeping the eyes moving and wondering what you’ll stumble across next. The fiberglass body makes this rod light and nimble, with its hood lowered and narrowed nearly two inches. With no windshield wipers in sight and thin chrome stripping, there are very few visual distractions on this kustom, which gives the rod exceptional visual continuity.
Its deadly combination of shaved door handles and the signature split rear window make this kustom a standout in the crowd no matter what angle you see it from. The bulging front fenders are complemented excellently with the Cooper headlights and small chrome grille up front. Although the rear view mirrors are tiny, the aesthetic effect it adds to this kustom is sensational.
Sitting on a 18-inch front, 20-inch rear staggered set of Budnik wheels, this kustom sits pretty with its wheels tucked so effortlessly underneath the huge fenders. Heading inside, this kustom has all the makings of a top notch luxury car.
The bucket seats are smothered in caramel-colored Ultraleather, complemented with a custom dash and Classic Instruments telemetry. Power windows add a modern touch to the kustom’s package, and the door panels feature an upward sweeping accent mixed with flattened orange suede and caramel Ultraleather.
A Billet Specialties steering wheel and a sweet B&M shifter add a performance feel to the kustom. Rounding out the package inside is a nice sound system, complete with an Eclipse head unit and a 10-inch Diamond Audio subwoofer in a custom enclosure provide audiophile sound.
A stellar build overall, where can you go wrong with this kustom Willy’s? Spelling freshness inside and out, Is it worth its $109,900 price tag? Feel free to share your opinions below if you would have done it any different. Be sure to check out RK Motors Charlotte to view their current inventory.
