The first inkling that something might be amiss in this video came the instant we opened the link – we’re not quite sure what possessed this guy to drive that far into the water, but maybe it’s a Jeep thing that we just don’t get.
The next thing that told us there might be a problem was the guy with the camera at the very beginning – the whole thing stinks of “hold my beer and watch this!”, and we’re glad someone was there to catch it on video.
Translating the video title from Portuguese to English says we’re watching “Panic On The Trail Of Tramandai”, but initially there’s not much panic at all – just a Jeep stuck in the sand. Unfortunately, you get that foreboding feeling that something’s about to happen – and then Darwin strikes.
Now we can take a moment to bring you this public service message from the land of Common Sense, which doesn’t appear to exist in many of the videos we find. Ladies and gentlemen…never, ever, ever stand anywhere in the area when someone is using a cable to pull a vehicle, especially by the bumper. Why? Thirty-five seconds in will tell you why.
Luckily the guy is still rolling around on the ground at the end, but his hand does look a bit mangled up before the video cuts off. The bolts holding the bumper to a vehicle are not nearly strong enough to attempt a rescue like this, but they tried anyway, and nearly killed one of their friends in the process. Use your noggin…or lose it.
