The production of the Viper may be a thing of the past, but there are still plenty of these beasts on the road, and many shops working on hard on them to keep pushing their limitations. Calvo Motorsports’ twin-turbo, Dukes themed Viper is a great example of this sentiment.

Spotted by the crew at 1320Video, Calvo’s Viper is a true force to be reckoned with, even running on good ole’ 93 octane pump gas. Seen in this video at a recent race at the Caddo Mills Airport in Texas, the owner gives a fast rundown of the modifications before taking his rocket ship down the track.

The last time this Viper took a visit to the track, it was running on race gas and 18” wheels; it was with that setup that it was churning out 2,300-horsepower and reaching almost 200-mph in the 1/4 mile. For this event, it has been detuned quite a bit for pump gas, and is running off 1,607-horsepower instead, and 15” wheels to help use a better track tire.

This Viper is equipped with a trunk-mounted ice cell that consumes 65 pounds of ice, each run, as they fight to keep the air intake temperature down.

During this heads-up event, the Viper runs a consistent 190-mph through the 1/4, and takes out another Dodge Viper, Chevy Corvette C6, and probably the most impressive, a Lambo Huracan. A Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera stepped up and knocked the Viper off its high horse, but that’s one heck of a roster to go against, and not a supercar anyone would be ashamed of losing against.
