Oooooh, aaaaaah. We love big, finned Exner sleds, especially with Hemi motors. Here’s a very pretty 1956 Imperial Crown Coupe with a 354 Hemi and Torqueflite 3-speed Automatic that sprung on eBay and it looks nice.
Originally a pink car it’s now blue with blue guts. The color change was probably quite an undertaking requiring gallons of robin’s egg blue paint and ultimately dinging the value. With 39K miles on the clock its claimed to be a rust, free 2-owner, Las Vegas barn find (aren’t they all these days?) and looks to be complete. Good thing as they only made around 10K Imperials in ’56 so if you need to a lens or one of the freestanding taillights, you’ll have your work cut out for you.
The car also has factory air conditioning, power seats, windows, steering and brakes and Town and Country radio. The dual quad Hemi has some alterations but still retains factory coolness. Seller says the car has been sitting for five years and needs a tune, but it looks and sounds cool in the video of it rolling around town. With no reserve the top bid is currently just shy of $10K.
If anyone remembers Troy Trepanier’s cool ’56 Chrysler 300 “Passion,” that car would be great inspiration for what this car could be. That and a couple hundred grand. And you’d have to be cool with your masculinity with the thing back to factory pink color.
