We can never get enough performance car events and love when more quality ones start up. This year, another annual car event sporting a Hotchkis autocross course got its start- the NMCA/NMRA West Coast Shootout. The event, put on by Hotchkis and Baer Brakes, brought vehicles in all different classes to be put to the test on the autocross course. While participant numbers were low compared to other events, Hotchkis is sure to be back putting on the event for many years to come.
Held at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, muscle cars, trucks and customs alike participated in the autocross and SpeedStop events on July 8th through the 10th. Over 50 people brought their cars out and spent their entire weekend squealing tires and testing their driving skills. Recently, Hotchkis released a video on YouTube showing some of the excitement from the event.
In times when car guys and gals are looking for the next best thing in the automotive world, Hotchkis’ dedication to making old cars perform like new ones is a welcome challenge. According to John Hotchkis, president of the company, traditional cars shows just aren’t fun anymore and being able to have a muscle car that performs like a new one is becoming more important. John Hotchkis was out at the event, watching all the autocrossers and talking to participants.
Dan Weishaaer, one of the H-Team members, explains in the video that Hotchkis was at the event to show people that they can, in fact, go out to events to run and enjoy their cars. And that they did. The Shootout definitely gave autocrossers a platform to show off their stuff, and better yet, their Hotchkis suspensions.
With so many positive reactions on the video, and amazing autocross runs, we’re sure to see an abundance of participants at next year’s event. Who knows, we may just have our own autocross Camaro out there to take on the challenge of the Hotchkis autocross course.
