The muscle-car inspired Dodge Challenger SRT8 is undoubtedly an impressive modern Mopar. Unfortunately for those who have a passion for autocross, the newest generation of Challengers is not set up for that sort of track use straight from the factory. In a video that was recently uploaded to YouTube, this is made fairly obvious. Thanks to companies like Hotchkis, however, creating an autocross racer out of these Challengers can be fairly simple.
The video posted shows a stock 2009 Challenger SRT8 participating in the 2010 Hotchkis Autocross that took place at the Mopars at the Strip event in Las Vegas, Nevada. The autocross run is about as impressive as you can expect for a stock car that weighs over two tons. The weight of the Challenger can definitely be sensed in the amount of body roll this car has in the turns.
So why is this notable? Well, the owner of the Challenger took notice of his car’s downfalls when it came to the autocross course and decided to fix the issues. He did this by installing Hotchkis performance suspension components. Word got back to Hotchkis about the video and the decision to put a Hotchkis suspension on the Challenger and they have since linked to the video on their Facebook page.
This is where Hotchkis expressed their excitement about seeing someone make the decision to run a Hotchkis set-up on their stock vehicle. We’re glad that the Challenger’s owner decided to upgrade his suspension with components from a reputable company and we look forward to seeing him at autocross events with his new Hotchkis suspension.
