Growing up, there were all sorts of odd drive-thru places that we thought were kind of weird. There was a liquor store in Adelphia, Maryland, that had a drive-thru. In Santee, California, there was a drive-thru dairy store. Most of us are accustomed to seeing food places with a drive-thru, but sometimes people seem to forget that not every food place has a drive-thru.
We’ve all heard about people accidentally crashing through the front of a building, it happens enough that it almost doesn’t shock us anymore. But then sometimes there’s a person who drives through the front of a building and they do something that we never would have expected them to do.
In Lincoln, Nebraska, an elderly gentleman decided that he wanted to get some pizza from a local restaurant. So he got in his car and drove to Valentino’s Carry Out Pizzas and decided that he would order his pizza from them. The only thing that separates this gentleman from the other customers is that they typically walk through the double-door entrance while he chose to drive through the doors.
If it’s not odd enough that this man drove through the front of the store, what makes this story even more confusing is that after the clash-bang-clatter was over, he placed his order. Yes, you read that right: even though he just crashed his car – up over the curb and through the glass, shattering it – he calmly ordered some pizza and likely expected that he never had to exit his vehicle.
Apparently he was calm after the accident and didn’t suffer any injuries – not even his pride suffered the slightest bit of a scrape. But, just to be safe, he was taken to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure. He didn’t get his pizza, do you think they should give him one on the house? No one was injured, and the door has been replaced.
