It’s a time-honored tradition: the burnout – a way for musclecar owners to blow off some steam (and the tires!), and show off the raw power their modified machines are capable of displaying. Ever since the invention of the rear-wheel-drive car and engines that have more power than the ground can hold, the burnout has provided a beautiful show for those of us watching, and offers a glimpse into the psyche of gearheads -more power, always!
We never imagined that there were this many American musclecars in Finland; boy were we ever wrong! First, second, and third-Gen GM ponycars are well-represented, including a split-bumper ’70 RS Camaro and late-70’s Trans Am. For you Ford fans, there’s even a Mustang or two, and some old-school iron including a hot Chrysler Imperial to boot – they are all on the property and smokin’ the hides at this Finnish car meet.
Of course, no impromptu gathering of gearheads is complete without everyone taking a shot at the burnout “pad” on their way out of the parking lot. We get a chance to witness an underpowered mullet machine doing the dreaded one-wheel-peel; even with the wet asphalt he still couldn’t get both hides cooking.
There’s also an old-school pink Cadillac, but unfortunately we don’t get to see that one burning up the whitewalls. Regardless, there are a number of sweet pieces of American muscle rolling around the parking lot and out onto the street, and it’s nice to see that hotrodding and burnouts are alive and well, even across the pond. We’re sure glad this camera owner decided to shoot this video in HD.
