The NMCA is to drag racers as water is to fish, and their World’s Fastest Late-Model HEMI Challenge is bringing out some steep competition. The competition is open to owners of modern HEMI powered cars such as the Challenger, Charger, Magnum, 300, and Truck/SUV. The car you see here is the fastest Challenger in the World’s Fastest Late Model HEMI Challenge, and it can run a 10.24 at over 130 MPH on what appear to be some fairly normal-sized meats.
This particular car was built by RDP Motorsports near Cleveland, OH. They specialize in dyno tuning, supercharger and turbo upgrades, specializing in the modern computer controlled rides like the new Camaro, Challenger, Mustang, and Corvette.
Every year the NMCA and shopHEMI.com put together the largest modern HEMI event of the year, the Late-Model HEMI Shootout. This year the Late-Model HEMI Shootout will move to Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicswille, Maryland the weekend of June 3-5, 2011.
The event runs simultaneously with the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals, so fans and competitors basically get two major events for the price of one! Competitors can run supercharged, turbocharged, nitrous-powered and naturally aspirated motors in all of the models mentioned above, and get to do so while competing on on the national stage.
