Video: ScottieD Spots A Rat Rod At A Charity Auction In Auburn, IN

Yes folks, ScottieD is back with some excellent vehicles to showcase and discuss. However, this time, he’s gone away from his usual schtick of heading to shows put on by Goodguys or GNRS, and instead made his way to a car auction in the Midwest.

More specifically, he’s ventured to his very own 2014 ScottieDTV Traveling Charity Road Show in Auburn, Indiana, to provide us with sweet rides like this Frankenstein-esque Model A. By all appearances a textbook rat rod, Scottie does the honors of investigating to see what makes this oddball tick.

Starting off with the motor, we learn that it actually belonged to a fire engine truck back in the early 1940s. It’s a straight-six Waukesha with 11,000 miles on it, which the owner found out about at a swap meet. He bought it, did some prep and tuning up, and then inserted it into the Model A to give it some character (as well as over 300 pound-feet of torque).

The placard explains some of the more unusual highlights about the car, such as the 12-gauge double barrel shotgun shifter.

Around back, a placard of build highlights illustrates some of the other quirks about the car: “Model A and a half” frame, ’31 Model A four-door body, 1925 Buick headlights, John Deere corn picker front wheels, Fuller 5-speed transmission, and more.

Scottie’s further inquiries tell us that the body was what remained of a Model A that lit up in flames back in 1976, not too far from the auction’s site in Auburn. As it turns out, there were visitors of the auction that day who had first-hand experience in owning the car once upon a time, as one gentlemen explained to the owner. We can’t imagine what their reaction was upon seeing its current state, but it’s likely their jaws dropped in amazement.

Visit Scottie’s YouTube channel for more fantastic videos like these, and keep it here at Rod Authority for your daily dose of life in the kustom lane.
