Who doesn’t love a good car shirt? Most dyed in the wool enthusiasts have at least a drawer full of them at home, if not a closet rack crammed full. Most of us wear them all the time because they constitute the majority of our wardrobe. Sure you save the nice ones for the car shows, or dinner out, but most of them have at least one grease spot or welding spatter hole burnt in them. Usually your favorite looks like you were grease monkeying for the local quick lube, and somehow managed to catch fire in the process.
If you’re like us then you either a) need some new car shirts, or b) just want some new car shirts. Check out these cool designs from a recent collaboration between Starlite Rod and Kustom in Torrance, CA and DePalma Clothing.
Starlite has been in business since 2003 and specializes in work on pre 1970s domestic cars and trucks. They handle everything from minor repairs to major fabrication, including scratch building frames and engine build ups. DePalama clothing specializes in high quality shirts, jackets and hats with a rod, kustom or motorcycle theme. The two companies collaborated on some new shop tee designs with the Starlite name.
This video shows a few glimpses of a day at the Starlite Rod and Kustom shop, where there’s always a lot going on. Welding, grinding, more welding, fitting and fabrication. There’s also some cool shots of the shop truck, a ’53 Chevy that ‘s been heavily customized and is used as the shop parts runner, as well as a few quick glimpses of some other projects in various stages of completion.
Then there’s the shirts. You don’t get the impression that these guys just threw these on for the video cameras. Most of the shirts in the video look like they’ve been worn in the shop for a while. DePalma specializes in clothing for rodders, the company mantra is low, fast and loud. The shop tees are heavy weight, ideal for guys working in the shop, or just hanging out.
There are three designs from DePalma featuring the Starlite name, all available now. There’s also a lot more cool clothing on the DePalma site to checkout, looks like we’ll be spending a few bucks on some new tee’s this weekend.
