Fragola Performance Systems started life in 1973 as a job shop in a small 1,000 square foot building. At the time it was called F.F. Screw Products and was run as a part time operation with a single employee. By 1977 the operation had grown to a full time venture with ten employees.

In 1982, the Fragola family decided to manufacture their own products and F-K Bearings was started. The F.F. Screw Products continued to operate as a job shop company working alongside F-K Bearings in two separate buildings that were approximately 36,000 square feet combined.

In 1999, Fragola Performance Systems came about after many of the company’s customers asked about fittings for the racing industry. Today, the Fragola Performance Systems company is housed in an 80,000 square foot building with 35 employees, while their sister company, F-K Bearings, is across the street with its own 80,000 square foot building with 55 employees. After Fragola Performance System’s growth in the industry, it is only fitting that we pay homage to Fragola’s fittings and their manufacturing process.

Three generations of the Fragola family work in the business with their business goal the same as when company founder Frank Fragola began as F.F. Screw Products: “Make quality products offered at the best price with 100% on-time deliveries.”

As the video shows, the family owned company manufactures their own products in Southington, Connecticut, with a keen eye on continually improving the manufacturing process. Automation is one of the many areas that has helped Fragola keep up with the demand for their products.

Each machinist handles the set-up and operation of several machines at once, and workflow is smooth and manageable. The testing and assembly area operates similarly, and the overall pace of the facility is comfortable and thoroughly stocked with inventory. The company also employs an impressive recycling system (also shown in the video), fed by under-floor conveyer belts. This system allows the separation of machining solvents from scrap material, which not only segregates the wastes streams but allows the company to recycle the solvents to be reused.
