When we first stumbled across this clip on Reddit, an argument had already broken out about semantics – shocking, we know. You see, some individuals are convinced that this individual is powersliding this Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD rather than drifting it. We’re not out to step on any toes here, but what we can tell you is that what our hero in this video is doing is exactly the same controlled throttle oversteer you see being performed by purpose-built drift cars in Formula D events.
Call it whatever you want, the bottom line is that this guy is straight-up throwing rooster tails of tire smoke around the oval in what appears to be a completely stock pickup truck – aside from the aftermarket ladder rack for additional street cred, of course. And that’s nothing to say of this man’s sheer tenacity, as we see him stay in the throttle after smacking the tire wall and spinning (blowing out one of the front tires in the process) and maintaining what appears to be no concern whatsoever for the potential damage to the truck or his person.
If you think about it long enough, this 2500’s prowess for drifting almost makes sense – that 6.0-liter V8 makes 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, and this truck’s 4×4 package offers not only a shorter gear ratio than stock, but also features an uprated and therefore stiffer suspension tuning as well.
So there you have it folks – wanna go drifting? Ditch the high buck modified RX7 and head down to your local used car lot and snag one of these.
