Here on Street Legal TV, we love fat smoky burnouts. Yes; even if they are being produced by a foreign car. Of course, it does help gain our interest if the import is making tire smoke with the help of a big, thumping American V8. We get a look at one such multi-national smoke show collaboration in this video from YouTube, as a wide-body V8 powered Toyota Celica GT tears it up a parking lot somewhere in The Netherlands.
We aren’t told exactly what engine is in the Celica, but the video description tells us that rowdy V8 makes somewhere around 428 brake horsepower. The stretched wide-body fenders, hood scoop, and Torque Thrust II’s with big meats only add to the Celica’s cool factor. Oh, and if the lope of the idle wasn’t a dead giveaway as to what is under the hood, a “V8” emblem in the grille removes all doubts, regardless of what language you speak.
It takes a minute to get to the burnout, but when the V8 finally roars to life and the rear tires of the Celica start churning the brick-surface of the parking lot to dust and reducing themselves to smoke we’re reminded all over again why engine swaps are so stinkin’ awesome.
After seeing a car like this, would you ever consider building a rear wheel drive, American V8 powered import project of your own?
