The boys at Wrecked Metals out of Boise, Idaho create some pretty immaculate works of engineering that aren’t only aesthetically pleasing, but are fully functional and are actually meant to be driven.
“The philosophy is, you have to nail the overall look of a car. Some people, they’re thinking, ‘I need this part, this part, this part,’ and they’re looking for all these great vintage parts, but they missed the overall look of the car,” explained Matt Whitlock of Wrecked Metals. He’s completely right, too–A lot builds are focused on expensive vintage parts, and not focused enough on the overall build.
In this video by Josh Clason, we see some awesome videography, but more importantly, the cars that Wrecked Metals has either built, or put their custom touches on. The look of the cars in the video match the time periods perfectly, in our opinion, but they also stand out amongst other builds.
“Pretty laid-back up here in Idaho. There’s no pressure to look cool or be cool, just do our thing,” Whitlock added. That’s exactly what sets their builds apart from others–the fact that they just do their thing and build hot rods the way they feel it should be, not just with expensive vintage parts or how someone else tells them how to build them.
This past weekend, Wrecked Metals just had their official grand opening. From the photos we’ve seen, the shop looks great and is definitely somewhere we’d like to check out one day. If you’re in the area, stop by and poke your head in, we’re sure you won’t regret it. For more information, visit Wrecked Metals’ website here.
