The SRT Brand is the epitome of performance and style for the Chrysler Group’s lineup of 2012 vehicles. This is clearly shown in SPEED TV’s SRT Test Drive. With an SRT-molded Dodge Charger and Challenger, Jeep Cherokee and Chrysler 300 on deck, accomplished racer and SPEED’s own Tommy Kendall takes to the pavement with celebrity guest drivers to see what the potent SRT vehicles are all about. In the video above, you join the SPEED SRT Test Drive in its fifth chapter as SRT Brand President and Chrysler Group CEO Ralph Gilles joins Kendall for a drive in the Chrysler 300 SRT8.
As the face of the “Imported from Detroit” tagline, the 300 is the halo car of the Chrysler brand. Not only is it powerful and fun to drive, it is also steeped in luxury and is truly a gentlemen’s car. Mix that with the offerings of SRT and you’ve got yourself a car worthy of praise.
According to Gilles, SRT is all about subtlety and functional add-ons. Anything that is put on a SRT vehicle helps it in some way, giving the customer the best bang for their buck.
This definitely holds true for the Chrysler 300 SRT8, with a 174mph non-limited top speed, zero-to-60 time of 4.6 seconds and a 50-50 weight distribution. It may not look like it, but that bad boy can handle like its on rails and Gilles proves this by doing a bit of drifting during the test drive.
The 2012 Chrysler Group SRT lineup is more than just good looks, they're also about performance.
Gilles, who started at Chrysler in 1992 and always had a passion for the SRT-type products is very proud of what SRT has come up with for 2012.
With open-forums designed to get owner feedback and the SRT team being a “cocktail of true car guys,” the SRT lineup is better than ever this year with the focus really being on the Street and Racing Technology that SRT stands for.
Performance and style are everything for the SRT lineup and the brand is about taking all the things that people might like to do to their cars but can’t afford to, backing it with technology and performance, and making it available to customers. All with a 470hp 6.4L HEMI engine, the four 2012 SRT vehicles do this proudly.
And the best thing is that there is something for everyone, from the fun and nostalgic Challenger and aggressive Charger, to the lush and stealthy 300 and beastly Cherokee.
