A new car rally will take place this October to be known as the AutoWeek America Adventure, presented by Mopar. AutoWeek has signed on as the Title Sponsor of the event, while Mopar is providing the grand prize as Presenting Sponsor. The announcement was made recently by Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar and AutoWeek Editorial Director and Associate Publisher, Dutch Mandel.
The 2011 AutoWeek America Adventure is a road-rally during which teams of two have to solve clues and complete missions to navigate the correct route and earn points. Each evening, the team that has the most points earned during the day wins a car key.
Starting from Seattle, WA, each competing car is fitted with a GPS transponder, so their location can be tracked in real time. A number of stops along the way will provide on-track activities to challenge the best of drivers. The event is sanctioned by the United States Automobile Club (USAC).
On Day Seven, the event finishes on the Mopar sound stage at the annual SEMA Show, where the Mopar ’11 Charger will be waiting. Those who win the seven keys will each have a chance to start the car. The team whose key starts the engine will take home this limited edition Charger.
The cost to enter a team is $6,995, which is all-inclusive for a team of two people. All food, beverage, hotel, track fees, entry into SEMA, vehicle decals, and other costs are included.
