Many gearheads who labor over choosing exactly the right motor oil to use in their performance engines are content to grab any “break in” oil available for their valuable engine’s first firing.
Lake Speed Jr. of Driven Racing Oil explains that choosing the right break in oil is just as vital as finding the right motor oil to race. After all, the break-in process is the most critical parts of any engine’s life. Moving metal parts such as rings and lifters must be allowed to wear until they are honed to a true fit without allowing any actual damage to the engine. That’s why Speed says Driven has developed one of the widest ranges of break-in oils of any major manufacturer.
In this video Speed discusses several great examples why choosing the right break in oil for your engine’s first firing is just as important as the motor oil you use for the rest of the engine’s life.
