We saw in the news recently that a moron from Valparaiso, IN allegedly used a cell phone app that flashed red and blue lights to impersonate a police officer while driving his black Pontiac GTO. He was trying to pull over a woman driving on U.S. Highway 30. The woman reported to police that his GTO had flashing lights at the top of its windshield, and that it had tailgated her as it’s driver was trying to get her to pull over.
It was late evening on a Saturday and she wisely suspected that the driver, who was driving the GTO quite “recklessley,” was not a police officer at all. She called 911 immediately and shortly after the GTO driver eventually gave up and turned north. The police tracked him down a short while later while he was still behind the wheel.
The driver, Fabio Bindel ( and yes, that is his real name), denied any illegal activity or that his GTO had red or blue lights. However, his passenger handed over a cell phone, which she said belongs to Bindel, and it did indeed have an app designed to imitate a police car’s red and blue flashing emergency lights. He was arrested for allegedly impersonating a public official and drunken driving, both of which are felony charges.
