Who says drift cars can’t drag race? ProCharger sure doesn’t. Within the ProCharger social archives, we found a video of professional Formula Drift driver Pat Goodin taking his ProCharger F-1A blown LS powered 1989 Nissan 240SX drift car down the drag strip at Orlando Speedway.
The video is a few years old, but that doesn’t take anything away from how awesome it is to see his purpose-built pro drift car lay down a 10.4-second run at 134 mph.
At the time the video was shot, Goodin’s 240 was running a 408ci 11.5:1 compression LS engine built by Harbortown Fabrication. It had GMPP ls3 heads, F1a ProCharger on 10psi and an Induction Solutions dry kit (100hp shot).
Power is put to use with a Gforce GSR transmission and Winters quick-change differential. Goddin said he was short a bit of gear in the car and hit the rev limiter in fourth gear, about 50-60 feet from the finish. “The super soft launch is to save my differential, as it is for a dirt track sprint car, and not made to be launched on a super sticky drag strip,” Goodin said.
Goodin’s car also makes use of BC Racing coilovers, a Mcleod mag force clutch, and Cosmis racing wheels wrapped in Falken Tires rt615k.
