Project Swinger Update: Rolling New Forgelines

Hey kiddies! It’s been a while since we’ve last heard a peep out of our Pro Street/g-Machine ’71 Nova nicknamed “Swinger,” we know. But be not dismayed! There’s all sorts of cool stuff coming down the line for our veneral classic conversion Bowtie. While our supercharged LSA sits at the ready, we’re prepping the Nova for paint and body work (which many of you know can take a lot more time than you’re willing to admit) as well as getting all of our Nova’s plumbing and wiring not to mention an AFCO LS radiator and fan combo!

Pro-Touring machines pride themselves on their handling prowess, and our Nova is no different. Wanting to get as much meat to the asphalt as we could, we went to Forgeline for conjure up some lightweight but all the while tough-as-nails rims. We opted for Forgeline’s SP3P Gun Metal Gray rims with their Diamond Edge with brushed outer rings with clear coating. Since we were using SSBC brakes and rotors, we were able to keep our standard Chevy 5 x 4.75-inch bolt pattern, making life a little easier.

Picking the right wheels for Swinger would require a little bit of customization, though (OK, a lot). As those who are following along will know, we installed a set of Detroit Speed mini-tubs a couple weeks back. Since we want to fill those with as much meat as we can (namely 235/40/18s up front and 315/30/18s out back). Forgeline had to custom craft some 18×7.5 with 4.7-inch backspacing up front and 18×10.5 with 7-inch backspacing for the back.

Right now, they’re just sitting pretty on Swinger without actually being wrapped in rubber. Once the tires show up and we can roll Swinger around on its own, we’ll post some pics up ASAP.
