1970 Plymouth Duster Ressurection

Check out Chris Mellow’s restored 1970 Plymouth Duster. The car was heavily infested with the tin worm when he rescued her and it took 5 years to get this old A-body in the shape it’s in now. Muscle Car Society brings us all the details.

The Duster was new for 1970 and although it shared it’s front sheet metal with the Valiant, everything aft of the A-pillar was unique to Plymouth’s new sporty coupe. When the Barracuda moved up market to the E-body platform, the Duster took its place as a inexpensive sporty coupe and filled the hole vacated by its big brother. The car was sold well and only had received minor changes until 1976 when it was replaced by the unloved Volare.

Currently located in South Carolina, this Duster was originally a drab Mopar green with a six cylinder engine. Chris shored up the metal work, dropped in a 360 V-8 and sprayed the car out in a very nice shade of orange. Black stripes and blacked out bumpers were added as well as a set of Crager mags and new rubber.

A-bodies are getting harder to find in any condition and although Chris admits he wasn’t a big Duster fan, he loves Mopars and saw the value in bringing this old Plymo back to life. We think saving any old Mopar from the crusher is a good thing and kudos to Chris Mellow for an awesome transformation.
