Poached from Chevrolet mid-season last year, twenty two year old Cameron Lawrence has proved to be a valuable acquisition for Dodge. Not only did Lawrence secure the championship for the team last year in dramatic fashion, with the title coming down to the final race of the season, he’s been claiming podiums left and right in TA2 ever since the Trans Am series got underway in 2015. Last weekend at Road Atlanta he clenched his third consecutive victory in the Foametix Muscle Car Challenge series, though luck may have been on Lawrence’s side this time around.
“We never really had, or at least I didn’t think we had, the pace to win all weekend,” said Lawrence. “We were lucky Dillon had some issues at the end of the race. We were almost ready to settle for second. Dillon drove an amazing race and probably deserved that win but, unfortunately, things happen—but I imagine he’ll get a win soon enough.”

Lawrence ran second to rookie Dillon Machavern in the No. 24 UniFirst/PPG/Ford Mustang for much of the second half of the race, but during the final lap of the race, differential trouble caused the Ford to lose pace.
The mechanical issue offered Lawrence a chance to overtake between turns six and seven and nab the victory.
The Road Atlanta race made Trans Am history with a record-setting 74 car entry list in the two-race weekend, which saw Amy Ruman in the No. 23 McNichols Company Chevrolet Corvette take the top podium spot in TA in authoritive fashion, while defending champion Ernie Francis, Jr., in the No. 98 Breathless Performance Chevrolet Camaro took the win in TA3, and Lee Saunders in the No. 84 Landsearch LLC Dodge Viper won the International Group race.
