Of all the hot rod events out there, sometimes the best ones are those that truly get back to the good ‘ole days, meaning no heavy sanctions, no strict rules and nothing really set in stone when it comes to organization. Next month, the Billetproof Hot Rod Eruption Drags at Washington’s Riverdale Raceway is such an event. So start packing your bags, securing your $10.00 dirt camping spot and planning for a true old-school hot rod event like no other.

The Billetproof Hot Rod Eruption Drags will be held at the 1/8-mile Riverdale Raceway in Toutle, Washington on Sunday, August 24th. And just like the name implies, there will be tons of old-school hot rod drag racing action. This is an opportunity for all hot rod and custom owners to take part in some traditional heads-up drag racing against competitors that share the same passion for vintage vehicles as they do.

With a basic safety inspection in place (requiring a radiator catch can, no leaking fluids and seat belts), pretty much any vintage vehicle can take part in the event.

In true old-school style, the track is very rustic, featuring just over an 1/8-mile of pavement for racing with a generator-run timing shack and race PA. All the pits and spectator areas are dirt or grass with the return road from the end of the track following suit. Facilities are equally rustic.

Registration for the event is just $30.00 if received by August 1st, which covers the racer, vehicle and a race window card. All additional passengers and spectators are $10.00 each, with the spectator entrance opening on race day at 9:00 a.m. Kids under the age of seven and all police/fire personnel with proper ID get in for free.

Dirt camping is available at the raceway for $10 per spot. Once again, the facilities are very rustic so you’re encouraged to bring everything you need, from water to shade, with you for the event. No engines will be allowed to be running at the track past 10p.m. if you intend to camp.

If you’d like to register for the event or get more preliminary information, be sure to visit the Billetproof website!
