SEMA 2022: Street Muscle’s Project MaxStreet Wins TMI Interior Award

SEMA 2022 is in the history books, and many accolades were received and awarded. We’re excited to say that Street Muscle Magazine took home the award for Best Interior from TMI Products.

First off, let’s get everyone up to speed on Project MaxStreet, Street Muscle’s 1966 Chevy II.  Brian Havins, the director of content & consumer marketing at Power Automedia says, “MaxStreet is the pinnacle of a high-performance street machine with a myriad of modern-day hot rod parts. Our team did a fantastic job with this build, and it shows with every nut, bolt, and component on this ’66 Nova.”

Street Muscle Magazine has worked hard to turn this classic Bow Tie compact into a potent muscle car with an Edelbrock/Musi 555ci big-block Chevy engine, ProCharger F2 supercharger, TCI 6X transmission, Wilwood brakes, Moser rearend, and much more. Most recently, MaxStreet received a fresh coat of matte white paint from Axalta Coating, bringing this half-century-old build closer to showtime.

“From its inception, owner James Lawrence and Street Muscle set out to make MaxStreet a boisterous Friday-night muscle car. But it evolved over time with great attention to detail and a unique, subtle vision – as evidenced by the matte white and dark gray palette. To our knowledge, this is the first time an active SEMA Chairman has had a vehicle on display at the SEMA Show,” explains Scott Parker, chief content officer of Power Automedia.

Fast forward to last week in Las Vegas, and MaxStreet wowed the crowds. TMI was proud to announce the winners of their first-ever TRIM Awards at SEMA and encouraged builders to enter their rides and be reviewed by experts in the field.

“With TMI celebrating its 40th anniversary, there’s no better way to share our anniversary than to give back to our industry, especially after so many OEs pulled out of this year’s SEMA Show. The OEMs that left SEMA also took away the many trophies and awards that so many builders strive for. We wanted to make sure recognition was still happening for the builders, and that’s where the TRIM Awards came from,” said Ross Berlanga, marketing director for TMI Products.

The TRIM Awards had multiple and distinct categories for winners. Having a TMI interior wasn’t a requirement to enter the TRIM Awards, but it did open entrants up to more potential categories to win.

MaxStreet won big with Best Interior. Lawrence chose a complete TMI kit of contrasting black vinyl and black suede with white racing stripes to tie everything together. He also chose a pair of Pro-Series Universal Sport-SS Chicane II seats, along with matching door panels, dash pad, and a universal console. The effect complimented the matte white finish perfectly.

From all of us at Power Automedia and Street Muscle, we’re thrilled with the winning award!
