Taking a love for the Mopar worldwide, Kennie’s Mopar Service of Tokyo, Japan, is doing exactly that. Feeding the addiction of fans in the Japanese auto scene, this small business is shipping the iconic Mopar from the red, white, and blue shores of the United States to our western neighbors from across the seas and to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. The shop specializing in not only the shipment of Mopars to Japan, but also providing service and restoration to these sweet rides as needed for the Japanese Mopar owner.
Recently Steve Pov hit the streets of Tokyo with Kennie’s Mopar Service to check out an iconic 1970 Barracuda. Powered by a 440 six pack, this three speed automatic Cuda is in mint condition. A rare factory bench seat-column shifter sporting all original parts from engine, to transmission, to suspension.
This version of the Cuda, was the Big Block option of the day. The powerplant, a 440ci six-barrel Super Commando Six Pak, producing 330 horsepower was once considered a supercar.
As part of a more aggressive package, the 440- and Hemi-equipped cars received upgraded suspension components and structural reinforcements to help transfer the power to the road. Dropping the stigma of the economy car in 1970, the Cuda was restyled and released to the market, making it a stronger entrant into the muscle car arena. With a larger engine bay this allowed Chrysler to facilitate the larger engine option.
With many American muscle cars in demand all over the world, service providers such as Kennie’s Mopar, are becoming more popular in the scene. With the customer simply needing to give specifications of year, make, and model, these services do everything from the foot work of finding the ride of choice to providing restoration services to rebuild and restore them back to original form. American muscle from mountains to shining seas is beloved by all across the globe. Crossing boarders, to find new homes, what do you think of American muscle leaving its homeland???
