Internal combustion engines are a torrent of friction, fire and heat, and the only thing that keeps them running is proper lubrication. Without a consistent flow of oil an engine will quickly suffer damage or worse, a catastrophic failure. Unfortunately, this all-important fluid is housed in the most vulnerable part of your engine, and can easily be damaged by errant road debris or by bottoming out. If you own a lowered and off-road vehicle, Trans Dapt Performance Products now offers its Slam-Guard armored oil pans to protect your engine from a busted pan and give you the confidence needed to keep moving down the road or trail.
Driving a lowered street car or off-road vehicle is all about having fun. Time spent behind the wheel should be carefree and all about enjoying everything the road has in store. But whenever you have a vehicle with reduced ground clearance, or you are negotiating rocky and rutted trails, you’re constantly worrying about damaging your oil pan and being stranded with a broken down car or truck. Trans-Dapt’s new Slam-Guard oil pans alleviate this worry thanks to an armored skid plate. This 3/16” steel plate helps your oil pan resist punctures and pan deformation that can reduce or completely cut-off the flow of oil to the engine.
The armor plate is securely integrated into the pan by removing the sump floor and perimeter welding the heavy-duty armor plate into position by hand. Slam-Guard pans are available for one-piece and two-piece rear main seal Small Block Chevys, Windsor-based Small Block Fords for passenger cars, and Jeep/AMC 304, 360, and 401 V8s.
Slam-Guard oil pans are available in three durable finishes –black powder coated, silver powder coated and chrome. Early SBC pans (with the driver’s side dipstick) are available in chrome (Part# 8910) and black powder coated (Part# 8649) finishes. One-piece and two-piece rear main seal SBCs and SBFs are available in chrome (Part# 8912, 8914, and 8918), black powder coat (Part# 8650, 8651, 8652), and silver powder coat (Part# 8913, 8915, 8919). The Jeep/AMC V8 pan is available exclusively with a black powder coated finish (Part# 8959). Each Slam-Guard pan includes a matching finish magnetic drain plug.
