Whether you like auctions or not, they’re a good finger-on-the-pulse barometer of what hot rods and kustoms are selling for. Each week, our “Auction Watch” column here at Rod Authority brings you some of the coolest cars offered around the country from some of the biggest and most recognized auction houses.
This week, we’re checking out a hot ’34 Ford Roadster (Lot #410) that crosses the auction block at Barrett Jackson in Vegas later this month, September 27th through 29th. Its bright Laser Red paint is what caught our attention, and is accented with a subtle classic tan interior. To us, the car just looks like a nostalgic blast from the past, and is refreshingly understated.
According to Barrett Jackson’s site, where the car listing is posted, “Nothing was overlooked on this custom roadster. The high-quality fiberglass body with steel hood is finished in Audi Laser Red PPG paint and sits on a custom chassis with boxed rails and tubular cross members.
The roadster is powered by a GM 502/502hp crate engine with aluminum heads, fuel injection, Sanderson coated headers and stainless exhaust with cutouts. Putting power to the wheels is a 5-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9″ rear end, triangulated 4-link rear suspension with coilover shocks and Heidts dropped independent front suspension.
It’s equipped with front disc brakes and 10″ Ford rear drums with stainless lines, caramel tan leather interior, Halibrand wheels, aluminum radiator and dual fuel cells from the Martin Seelos Collection”
