1966 Ford GalaxieThis 1966 Ford Galaxie hasn’t zipped through the stars in at least 18 years and we aren’t sure if she ever will again. Despite sporting a hood made from rust, she looks restorable. With the right amount of elbow grease this long bodied machine could be built as a low budget sleeper hot rod that destroys Camaros at stop lights. However, as we have heard before, the owner has refused to sell this car for the last 18 years based on the fact that “he will fix it up one day.”

The Galaxie would look great as either a pro touring... or a sweet show car.

Ford Introduced its brand new sedan in 1959, it was nicknamed Galaxie. It was named so to capitalize on the hype surrounding the space race at the time. Originally designed as a muscular businessman’s car, the Galaxie evolved into a full blown musclecar by 1965. It was given heaps of performance engine options ranging from 289 cubic inch V-8 to a massive 428 in the NASCAR designed Galaxie 500s.

Or a drag car.
Or a drag car.

The ’65-’68 Galaxies saw a blend of space age styling and (then) modern muscle using dual vertical headlights, a wide mean grill and a long sleek body. While the Galaxie may not be as well remembered as the Mustang or Torino, its combination of luxury and muscle have given it a large cult following. The cars greatness even inspired a song by Psychobilly legend Reverend Horton Heat.

This Galaxie isn’t too far gone and can be restored. Hopefully the owner will eventually come to his senses after almost 20 years and finally sell his car. What do you think… time to give it a new home?
