If you have never been introduced to Bring A Trailer (BAT), then you’ve been missing out on huge opportunities. The public automobile auction website is chock-full of some of the coolest cars on the planet, and they are all up for sale. Now don’t let the site’s name turn you off. Just because it is called “Bring A Trailer” does not mean everything up for sale is a non-runner. As a matter of fact, most of what you’ll find there, such as this gorgeous 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback that has been completely restored, is certainly driveable. Who ever ends up winning the auction for it, may want to bring a trailer, instead of putting all those miles on it to get it home.
The 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback we present here has been restored in the GT350R style. Much of the work has been done by RX Autoworks, a company well known with multiple awards on the Pebble Beach circuit. The built-to-the-hilt and balanced 302ci V8 features four exquisite Weber 44IDF carbs, SVO heads, IBA mid-length stainless steel headers, a billet MSD distributor with a rev limiter, cast aluminum Cobra oil pan, and a Griffin radiator with a 16-inch Spal electric cooling fan. This mighty motor is backed up by a T5 five-speed transmission with a hydraulic clutch system, and the rear axle holds a 3.90 limited slip differential.
You have to see this car, it is simply stunning. From the eat-off-it clean underside with Q1 shocks to the showroom floor-like interior sporting a 1965-spec wood-rimmed Shelby steering wheel, Sparco Evo race seats, Total Control pedals, and a period-correct shifter belying the modern transmission, this car will make you drool. The best part is that it can be yours, but you’ll have to hurry. The BAT auction is set to end Tuesday, March 2, 2015. However, it (Lot #209) is reasonably priced (for a car of this class), with a current bid (at the time of this report) of $38,500. For all the details and more photos, check out Bring A Trailer!
