Cadillac Concept Cars Appearing At Amelia Island Concours

Once upon a time, Detroit automakers delivered some of the sharpest, most eye-catching concept cars ever developed in the world. There seemed to be no ceiling on creativity, especially in GM’s Cadillac division. The peak of Cadillac’s concept car creativity was arguably the 1950s, when jet-inspired cars and huge tailfins were seen as the future.

For fans of wild concept cars, you’ll want to make your way to the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance this March. Hemmings Auto Blog reports that GM will be bringing a bevy of concept cars to Amelia Island, including some 50’s concepts that are still mind-blowing today.

By far the coolest concept car Cadillac will be bringing to Amelia Island barely looks like a Cadillac at all. The 1959 Cadillac Cyclone concept featured sliding doors, double nosecones, a bubbletop cabin, and of course huge fins. It looks like a jet fighter made sweet, sweet love to a luxury coupe, and the Cyclone was born.

Other Cadillac concepts of note is the 1949 Fleetwood Coupe De Ville, along with a pair of 1953 Cadillac Le Mans concepts. There will even be a modern Caddy for late-model fans, the 1,000 horsepower Cadillac Cien supercar, one concept we still think Cadillac should have built. This collection of concept cars is rarely seen outside of GM’s Heritage Collection, so if you can, get out there and check these rides out; you might not get another chance.
