When Chrysler introduced the world to the 21st century version of the Dodge Charger, many purists and Mopar fanatics went, well, nuts. And not in the good way. “A four door Charger?!” they cried out in anger. And they were pretty justified. The decision to coin the four-door sedan a “Charger” was an 11th hour decision pushed by the dealers and championed by the then Daimler marketing goons.
Thankfully, the new ’11 Charger is a strong positive step in the right direction but still touts some key flaws, the Audi/Evo/Mitsubishi front fascia which looks as out of place as a wide mouth bass and those damned two extra doors. So, obviously there are still a part of us longing for a two-door Charger. We came across this concept Charger coupe over on AMCarguide.com. The idea of Hungarian designer “Szs Design,” he’s got us wondering what could have been.
Szs Design clearly took a different approach to the Charger concept. Most of the concepts we’ve seen take the current four-door Charger and try to elongate the front doors into something coupe-ish. But the Szs concept is something more than that; a futuristic take on a next-generation Charger. The dual headlights, sweeping cross hairs grille, and wing-like side view mirrors all give this concept a very, very aggressive look.
The side exhaust is a sweet addition, though we could probably do without ’em and the humongous rims (knowing Dodge, this is the only part of the concept they’d keep). There’s not much else to say about this concept except that we hope Dodge’s design engineers are taking notes.
